•Youth L.E.A.D. program (leadership, employment, advocacy and development) incorporates mentoring and life skills into all practices as part of coaching curriculum
•Provided virtual sessions for numerous sports during pandemic, including basketball training with Hawks at Home
•Offer internships to practice work readiness skills
•Host up to 12 free adaptive sports clinics per week

•Host free community events called “BlazeDays” to expose both youth and veterans with disabilities to the world of adaptive sports
•Annual tournament Big Peach Slam Jam is the largest junior wheelchair basketball tournament in the Southeast
•100% of graduating seniors this year are pursuing secondary education, with 50% playing collegiate wheelchair basketball on scholarships
•Organization was formed as part of the 1996 Paralympic Games held in Atlanta, GA

•Conduct virtual film study sessions during NBA games to stay connected to youth and facilitate additional learning opportunities
•Coaches participate in USA Basketball training and complete trauma-informing and injury prevention courses
•Facilitate discussions on racial issues with community police officers to work to build a peaceful bridge between the police and the community
•Active participant in Jr. NBA programs such as Skills Challenge and Her Time To Play

•Empower and strengthen inner city youth and their families by providing comprehensive youth development services
•Provide a safe, positive and consistent place for youth to learn the game and become world class players in life
•Help youth build sense of pride in themselves and their community by encouraging self-esteem and diversity awareness

•Virtual basketball clinics and practices in partnership with the Golden State Warriors
•Comprehensive offering of services in addition to basketball including academic support, tutoring, advocacy, job placement, leadership training and more
•Community outreach programs, including annual food and clothing drives with local shelters, taking farmer’s market trips with senior citizens, and donating 50,000 books to neighborhoods across San Francisco
•All coaches are required to go through clinics held by the Positive Coaches Alliance as well as complete First Aid and CPR courses
•Conduct monthly parent informational meetings as well as host monthly pizza parties for families
WHAT MAKES US SPECIAL
•More than 85% of participants receive scholarships to participate in Rebels programming
•Provided free Wi-Fi to families in need during the pandemic
•Participated in Speak Up and Dribble march to help encourage young people to be active in social justice issues
•Organization started 31 years ago with 1 team and has grown to include 26 teams across 4 divisions
